One thing you won’t be able to complain about when the Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor opens next year is that there aren’t enough places to eat.
The resort, being built by Allegiant Travel Co., announced Aug. 16 details about the makeup of the 20 “first of its kind food-and beverage concepts” on the property and that it will employ a culinary staff of more than 600.
According to Sunseeker, guests will have access to 11 bars and lounges, seven stand-alone restaurants, offerings at two poolsides and a 25,000-square-foot “multi-dining experience.”
The list of offerings the resort made public is as diverse as it is exhausting. There will be fine and casual dining including a steakhouse, trattoria-style Italian restaurant, Mexican restaurant and a sports bar. As if that wasn’t enough, the resort will have a full-scale in-house bakery and a banquet kitchen.
As for the bars and lounges, it will offer a “robust wine” program along with cocktails, local beer and tropical libations, Sunseeker says.
The updates on the drink and dining options is the latest announcement as Allegiant Travel Co. edges closer to a May opening. The resort has begun taking reservations and in June installed what many a traveler might one day see as the pièce de résistance: a rooftop jacuzzi.
The 50-by-10-foot spa — which measures 1140 cubic feet, weighs 19,863 pounds and will hold 11,000 gallons of water — was installed in the adults-only Level Blue rooftop pool experience.
The $618 million Sunseeker, when complete, is expected to have 785 rooms, two pools, a spa and salon, a 117,000-square-foot “ground level experience,” the adults-only rooftop retreat, 60,000 square feet of meeting space, a harbor walk and an 18-hole golf course.
Included in the room mix will be 189 luxury one- to three-bedroom suites that will range in size from 875 square feet to 1,700 square feet and come with chef-level kitchens, private balconies and separate check-in, services and private lounges. The company calls this hotel-within-a-hotel concept Sunsuites.
