Airport, with two months to go, surpasses 2021’s passenger count

Year to date, departures and arrivals are up 24% at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.

In October, passenger traffic at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport — also known as PIE, its airport code — topped 2021’s total.

Year to date, according to a news release, arrivals and departures at PIE, according to a news release, have risen by 24% — and there are still two months remaining in 2022.

Including international flights, the release states, October saw a total of 177,071 passengers transit through PIE. A total of 2.06 million travelers have arrived at and/or departed from the airport this year. 

PIE serves 65 destinations with nonstop flights offered primarily by Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air. Canadian carrier Sunwing Airlines also operates at the airport.
