Lakewood Ranch has yet again been named the best selling multigenerational, master-planned community in the country.

This was the fifth consecutive year the community has been recognized by both RCLCO Real Estate Consulting and John Burns Real Estate Consulting. The fact it received the award in 2022 is impressive since sales were down compared to the previous year.

Still, the community brought in 1,846 new home sales last year.

“For nearly three decades, Lakewood Ranch has fostered a sense of place, community, and belonging,” Laura Cole, senior vice president of LWR Communities LLC, says in a news release.  “Our diversity of experiences, access to nature and services, and top-quality schools and healthcare are all here to be enjoyed today. That is reassuring for home buyers in this more uncertain market.”

Cole also points to neighborhood variety, home styles and price points as helping the community continue to see success in sales.

“In this market, communities that create the most certainty for the buyer will outpace the others. Lakewood Ranch performed, and is well-positioned to continue to do so,” Cole adds. “Our multigenerational appeal remains our largest differentiator; we are opening seven new neighborhoods this year priced from the $300,000s to $1 million+. We are also opening a number of new apartment and build-for-rent communities.”

Tourism might have also had an impact, Cole suggests.

“Hurricane Ian has drawn buyers and tourists from the affected areas and other coastal markets to our area, and more specifically to Lakewood Ranch,” Cole says. “Also, Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport’s exponential growth has opened many new markets via the addition of numerous direct flights.”

The community is spread across more than 33,000 acres in both Sarasota and Manatee counties with over 60,000 residents who live there. The community boasts A-rated schools, a medical center, the Sarasota Polo Club, a 75-acre outdoor sports campus and three town centers.
