When Andres Pimentel and Carlos Pavan opened a Mexican restaurant in east Naples focused on tacos last September, they chose the name La Herradura Doble — the double horseshoe in Spanish. The restaurant, honoring their heritage, was built with an indoor-outdoor horseshoe shaped bar.
But some five months in the owners want a do over on the name — and they are holding a contest for the winning moniker. "We keep hearing from locals they have a hard time pronouncing our name of the restaurant and people get confused," Pimentel says in a statement. "Although a name change is not ideal, we thought we would make the best out of it and include our community in finding a new name.”
The restaurant will accept entries for new names through its Facebook page, facebook.com/laherraduradoble, from March 1 to March 31. And in addition to pride in creating the new name, the winner will get some good eats: a year of free tacos, a value of $100 per month. The restaurant, according to the statement, will also donate $1,000 to a local charity on behalf of the winner.
