Hospital names new chief of staff

Sarasota Memorial Hospital's new officers will serve on the Medical Executive Committee.

SARASOTA — Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s medical staff recently appointed officers, including a new chief of staff. 

The officers will serve on the 2018-19 Medical Executive Committee, according to a press release. 

Dr. Joey Seaman was named chief of staff. He will serve as the top representative of Sarasota Memorial’s more than 1,300 medical staff members and advanced practice providers.

Seaman succeeds Dr. Kyle Garner. Garner's one-year term as chief of staff ends this month. Seaman has also chaired the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Section at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He has been a member of the hospital's medical staff since 2012. 

Dr. Alissa Shulman was named chief of staff elect. Dr. Jeffrey Sell was named secretary-treasurer. Dr. Sean Daley and Dr. Scott Perrin were named members-at-large.

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is a regional referral center with more than 900,000 patient visits a year. Sarasota Memorial has a 839-bed acute care hospital.
