Nonprofit installs new board of directors

Fort Myers-based Uncommon Friends Foundation promotes character building among youth and business leaders.

FORT MYERS — A new slate of officers has been named to lead The Uncommon Friends Foundation for 2018-19.

Established in 1993, Uncommon Friends Foundation is dedicated to character building among youth and business leaders. Its mission is to promote character education in schools, business ethics in the workplace and historic preservation of the Burroughs Home and James Newton Archives. 

The nonprofit recently held its annual retreat and board meeting at Babcock Ranch, according to a statement. 

Cape Coral City Council member Marilyn Stout was named president. Caryn Smith, CEO of Driven by Design and Moody River Grille, was named vice president. Carlos Kelly, partner at Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, is the secretary. Kerri Goldsmith, with HBKS Wealth Advisors, is treasurer. Helena Dabrowski, the director of finance for Sunshine Ace Hardware, is the immediate past president. 

Uncommon Friends Foundation is based at the Burroughs Home & Gardens in downtown Fort Myers.
