TAMPA — Brian Marlier has been appointed CEO of Focal Point Data Risk LLC, a Tampa-based data risk-management firm. Marlier is a founding board member of Focal Point and replaces Yong-Gon Chon, who led the company since February 2015.

According to a press release, Marlier spent more than 20 years helping build Cisco Systems, a worldwide leader in IT and computer networking. His leadership helped Cisco grow from a $1.5 billion company to a $48 billion company.

“We appreciate Brian accepting this important leadership role,” states board chairman Joel Schleicher in the release. “Brian has a tremendous 35-year track record in the technology industry leading teams, driving transformation and growing the bottom line. We are extremely pleased he has committed to serve Focal Point in an expanded leadership capacity.”

Marlier retired from Cisco in August, most recently serving as senior vice president of global architectures and global enterprise sales, responsible for $26 billion in product and services sales. He has also held senior positions at Nortel, Hitachi Data Systems and EMASS, a division of Raytheon.

“I am honored to lead such an incredible and talented team that will make Focal Point the best integrated risk management company in the world,” Marlier states in the release.
