For the second time in the past week, an Illinois-based firm has selected Tampa to establish a headquarters operation.

Velocity Resource Group intends to relocate from Aurora, Ill. The company, which was founded in 2001, has worked with more than 1,000 companies and provided staffing support for more than 50,000 assignments.

As part of its move, Velocity Resources intends to create 50 jobs, in executive management, sales, marketing accounting, recruiting and software development.

“After visiting many times to meet clients here, we fell in love with Tampa and the surrounding areas,” says John Fortino, Velocity Resources' co-founder and senior managing partner, in a release. “Tampa offers us a much friendlier business climate than Chicago, a lifestyle that helps us recruit top talent and an outstanding airport that makes it easy for us to travel to our clients across the country.”

The company intends to relocate Nov. 1 to 2,000 square feet, initially, in the 19-story office building at 501 E. Kennedy Blvd.

Velocity Resources follows Fay Servicing LLC in announcing a move from the Chicago area to Tampa. Fay, a mortgage servicer, will create 100 jobs in establishing a Southeastern regional headquarters here.

In the past year, USAA, BeniComp Insurance Co., TransferWise, Gateway One Lending and Finance, Willis Towers Watson and others have chosen Hillsborough County for new or expanded operations.
