ST. PETERSBURG —The law firm of Johnson, Pope, Bokor, Ruppel & Burns LLP is merging with Bronstein, Carlson, Gleim, Shasteen & Smith PA.

Bronstein Carlson attorneys will join Johnson Pope's offices in downtown St. Petersburg this summer, after construction of new office space. The blending of the firms will take place over the next 60 to 75 days. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In December 2013, Johnson Pope expanded to St. Petersburg with the opening of an office focused on real estate and finance led by real estate partner Will Conroy.

“We have been pursuing the Bronstein Carlson firm for more than a decade,” Johnson Pope Managing Partner Guy Burns says in a press release. “Finally, they have concluded the time was right for us to join forces. We couldn't be happier with their decision.”

Johnson Pope is a full-service firm with more than 40 attorneys and offices in Tampa, Clearwater and St. Petersburg. The Bronstein Carlson firm has five partners, Joel Bronstein, Susan Carlson, Holger Gleim, Phil Shasteen and Tom Smith, and focuses primarily on tax planning, health law, corporate law, estate planning and securities matters.

Burns says the firms have referred work to each other over the years, and that Bronstein Carlson has served as counsel to Johnson Pope from time to time.

“I believe our two firms have two of the more preeminent tax and corporate practice groups in the Tampa Bay area,” Bronstein says in a press release. “Joining forces with Johnson Pope is a natural fit and expands the array of services we can offer to our clients.”
