Day three was the most intense day on the bus because it slowly blended into day four with only three hours of sleep. The initial high of the first two days had worn off, and the pure panic of the mounting responsibility sets in.
However, we have huge confidence in our app and its capabilities, which was developed by Travis Miller, who is a full-stack developer at SPARK. The fact that he built it is extremely reassuring. And the social and business development capabilities we are creating for this brand are well led by the confident leadership of Sheena Koshy and Austin Allbritton.
The gaping hole in our company is design. We are working with a team from Elance, but being on a bus and working into all ends of the night, can make communication and expectations for deadlines really difficult. Managing this team has been my biggest challenge. With limited Wi Fi — Skype was out — and bus window drawings can only get you so far!
Working with four strangers and putting your trust in them to create a company as a team is an intense experience, but trying to motivate people to have that same commitment who are not in the experience with you has been a frustrating and humbling experience for me this week. My biggest takeaway from this is to be a clear about my intentions and expectations with my team during every step of the process.

After our pitch we felt good, but after more than seven hours of pitches from 36 teams, we were not selected as part of the 12 semifinalists for this leg of the competition. But we're not done yet, with our amazing online efforts promoting our product, we are currently ranking No. 5 out of all the teams in the online competition. Two teams from this competition will go to the finals against our two alumni teams, in addition to the two finalists named from the pitch competition.
