Tech Data pushes content strategy

CLEARWATER — Tech Data Corp., the technology distribution giant, has undertaken a new strategy to help its resellers better market tech products on their websites.

According to a company release, Tech Data (symbol: TECD, recent price: $51.47) created TDEngage to provide free content for resellers' websites to help them increase their online sales. TDEngage's marketing suite focuses on helping resellers in three areas: content management, email and online media.

The goal, Tech Data says, is to allows resellers to keep their websites updated with syndicated content from IT vendors, who make the technology products. It also provides branded marketing campaigns with emails and landing pages for a nominal fee, the release says.

According to the TDEngage website, [http://www.techdata.com/tdengage/ 90% of IT purchases are made online, which drives the need for resellers to ensure their websites are effective at generating leads and capturing sales.

“With purchasing IT products online continuing to grow as the preferred method of transaction, TDEngage provides our resellers with a cost-effective platform to drive incremental business by generating new leads through their own websites,” Derrek Hallock, vice president of TDAgency at Tech Data, says in a release.
