Gov. Charlie Crist appointed James Humphrey, former mayor of Fort Myers, to the Judicial Nominating Commission of the Second District Court of Appeal. Humphrey's term on the Commission expires in July 2014.
As required by Article V of the Florida Constitution, the commission provides the state's governor with a list of candidates for judicial vacancies.
Humphrey is a shareholder in the Environmental and Land Use practice at Fowler White Boggs. He serves as counsel to the Lee Memorial Health System Board of Directors, and to the Industrial Development Authorities for Lee and Charlotte Counties.
Humphrey's service as mayor of Fort Myers, which ended earlier this year, began in 2000.
