Pelican Wire takes over fellow manufacturer’s high-temperature wire designs and equipment.

NAPLES — Pelican Wire has completed the purchase of a portion of the Serv-Rite  insulated thermocouple manufacturing business from Watlow Electric. The agreement, which includes machinery, design and manufacturing process information and customer account data, specifically effects the high-temperature ceramic and vitreous silica (high-temperature glass) constructions.

Watlow, based in St. Louis, has begun transferring both design and manufacturing knowledge of the product line to Pelican Wire, which already manufacturers its own similar products, so the transition is expected to be seamless. Additionally, all the equipment used to manufacture the wire is included as part of the transfer. Naples-based Pelican Wire will begin quoting and accepting orders on new and existing wire designs on or before Oct. 1, according to a statement.

“I’m excited to work with our long-time partner, Watlow Electric, to provide their customers continued superior service for these high-temperature thermocouple products,” says Pelican Wire President Ted Bill in a statement.

Adds Watlow Chief System Designer Randy Brown, "This is a very natural transition for both companies. Watlow and Pelican Wire have a long history of cooperation to ensure customers can leverage the core capabilities of both to get the best solution."

Pelican Wire is an employee-owned manufacturer of application-driven wire solutions in the areas of thermocouple, resistance and custom wire. Specializing in the fine-gauge and high-temperature wire fields. The company manufacturers for the aerospace, medical, radiant heating, automotive, defense and other industries.
