Naples, with a neighborhood that makes the list of the 20 richest zip codes in the county, is clearly no slouch.
The zip, 34102, includes some of the toniest streets and communities in the region, such as Spyglass Lane and Galleon Drive in Port Royal. Gordon Drive is also Naples, where the list of homeowners includes Florida Gov. Rick Scott. The average adjusted gross income in the zip code in 2015, according to a Bloomberg analysis of IRS data, was $694,700.
But Naples is no Fisher Island.
That wealthy 216-acre enclave, outside Miami Beach and accessible only by ferry or water taxi, is the richest zip code in the country, according to the recent Bloomberg report. The report ranked zip codes nationally based on average adjusted gross income. The average income in the Fisher Island zip, 33109, is $2.54 million.
Palm Beach’s 33480 — where Scott’s political ally, President Donald Trump famously has a home — is No. 3 on the Bloomberg zip code list. The average income in that zip code is $1.25 million, the report shows.
Bloomberg evaluated IRS data for zip codes with more than 200 tax returns as of the 2015 filing season, and with 500 residential households according to the latest Census. More than 22,000 zip codes met the criteria, Bloomberg says. Other zip codes on the top 20 list include suburbs of Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia and Seattle. Zip 94027, in Silicon Valley, ranked No. 2.
