When it comes to the long game of health, Dr. William Kapp of Naples doesn’t take a short-term view.
In 2015, he teamed with Stevens Construction of Fort Myers to build Landmark Hospital of Southwest Florida, the region’s first long-term care hospital. Now the two are collaborating again, this time to build the Longevity Performance Center.
Scheduled to open in late 2018, the 4,449-square-foot facility on Immokalee Road will combine technology, artificial intelligence and scientific algorithms to create a new approach to health, wellness and fitness, Knapp says.
“Naples is the epicenter for longevity. It makes sense to launch our first of many Longevity Performance Centers in this community,” Kapp tells Coffee Talk.
Longevity performance is a new concept in health and fitness, using DNA testing to create custom fitness and nutrition plans. Clients can measure their biological age with blood biomarker testing, and programs are customized based on that data. The facility will also feature a fitness area with eGym smart equipment, which uses cloud-based software to track progress. Users swipe a bracelet at each station to retrieve previous workout data, and the machine is then programmed to a preloaded fitness plan customized from the user’s genetic analysis.
“For the first time ever," says Kapp, "genetic testing is being used for fitness, and blood biomarkers and DNA are being used to customize a fitness and nutrition program allowing people to live healthier and longer lives."
The Longevity Performance Center will also include treatment rooms for cold laser therapy, a noninvasive treatment for relief of muscle, tendon and joint pain.
