For decades, people have been talking about the economic impact of the 78 million Baby Boomers — those born between 1946 and 1964.

Now, it is the focus of a local business conference.

CreativeTampaBay, the organization looking to attract and keep creative industry in the region, is holding the first Florida Boomer Lifestyle Conference (www.floridaboomerlifestyle.com) May 12 at the Tampa Convention Center.

The conference is for businesses to understand the trends Baby Boomers — a relatively educated and affluent group making up nearly a third of the population — are leading that are shaping the economy.

Speakers and workshops sessions will cover what it takes to succeed in marketing to boomers and offer best practices to show how it's done.
