TAMPA — Saxotech, a Tampa software provider for the news industry, has merged with Digital Technology International to form a new company called Newscycle Solutions.

The merger of Saxotech and Austin-based DTI was driven by the acquisition of the companies by private equity firm Vista Equity Partners, says a news release. The two companies will have a blended senior management team and 3,000 media customers in more than 25 countries.

“Our two companies also complement each other geographically, which means that Newscycle Solutions is instantly competitive as a global player in the news media market,” says Anders Christiansen, COO of Newscycle and former Saxotech CEO.

Newscycle provides solutions for content, advertising, circulation and audience relationship management, says the release.

“This is a rare and exciting opportunity to bring together the talents and technologies of two successful companies to create the strongest technology partner for all of our customers,” Dan Paulus, president of Newscycle and former president of DTI, says in a statement.

The new company anticipates that product innovation cycles will accelerate given the direct collaboration of domain experts in digital publishing and cloud computing.

The management team is a blend of executives from DTI and Saxotech plus new members. In addition to Paulus and Christiansen, another key role is Don Oldham, DTI's founder and CEO as a board adviser.

The company has offices in nine countries and sales and support personnel around the world.

Newscycle's technology solutions include content management, digital advertising, circulation and audience relationship management. The company helps media organizations engage audiences through Web, print, mobile and social media channels.

Vista Equity Partners, a U.S. based private equity firm with offices in San Francisco, Chicago and Austin, has invested about $7 billion in technology-based organizations. It is a value-added investor.
