SARASOTA — The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee announced the addition of Shepard Englander as the new CEO.

Englander will begin his role Sept. 1, according to a statement. He will succeed current CEO Howard Tevlowitz who is retiring after 20 years. Englander has 16 years of CEO experience with the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati, where he implemented new business models that multiplied revenue, according to a statement.

“We believe we have found the perfect leader to take the helm of our growing Federation. We couldn’t be more thrilled,” says Federation Board President Randon Carvel in the press release.

Previously, Englander served as VP of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, associate director for government relations at the Jewish Federations of North America and practiced law in Washington, D.C.

“Sarasota-Manatee is one of the fastest-growing Jewish communities in America and the board is looking for new and innovative approaches,” Englander says in the release. "Organizational growth and transformation have been my passion for the last 16 years and I am excited by the challenge of leading a new community transformation. After experiencing the ways in which Cincinnati’s community campus invigorated our community, I can’t wait to partner with community leadership to build and launch the new campus."

Joel Morganroth, chair of the CEO search committee, noted in the release that Englander is a collaborator with a keen business mind who has experience with capital campaigns, entrepreneurial business models and community relationships.

“Shep has a mixture of everything we were looking for,” says Morganroth. “(He) will be an asset from day one.”
