SARASOTA — The Economic Development Corp. of Sarasota County — the organization that helps fund dozens of corporate expansions and relocations — might be orchestrating a move of its own.

The EDC currently leases about 4,000 square feet in the Live Oak Corporate Center on Cattlemen Road in Sarasota, west of Interstate 75. But that lease, and an extension on it, expires in June, EDC officials tell the Business Observer.

That expiration has given officials some more time to find new space, says EDC Corporate Relations Director Donna Carden. The organization has looked in downtown Sarasota, among other spots. “We are considering a couple of locations,” Carden says. “Nothing has been decided.”

The EDC has been in the Live Oak building, managed by Osprey Real Estate Services, for at least seven years. EDC officials say a move would be only for new space, not for growth in the organization.
