North Port's EDC aims high

NORTH PORT — The North Port Economic Development Corp. recently named team leaders for its four community initiatives.

The leaders are Freddy Koenig, manager of the Sarasota Memorial Emergency Room & Health Care Center; Dave Dignam, president of Key Agency insurance; Andy Gerberich, president of North Port Computers; and retired tourism executive Robert Rosenberg.

Koenig will lead the vision in progress initiative, while Dignam is in charge of the creative retirement center. Gerberich is the leader of the downtown initiative and Rosenberg will run the Warm Mineral Springs program.

“We believe these team leaders will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the initiatives and we are confident in their abilities to deliver the best results for the city,” North Port EDC President Mimi Steger said in a press release. “The planning for these initiatives has been in the works since October of last year, and we are excited about implementing them.”'¨

The initiative leaders will be joined on their teams with other local leaders, including North Port EDC board members. The North Port EDC is a private nonprofit economic development group. It was founded April 2011.
