FORT MYERS — Lee County Port Authority named longtime airport employee Scott Sheets director of general aviation at Page Field in Fort Myers.

Sheets will manage a staff of 34 people, in addition to planning, directing and coordinating day-to-day operations of the airport, including Base Operations at Page Field, according to a statement. Sheets will also have oversight on all construction and planning projects, lease and contract administration and represent Page Field with governmental agencies, private enterprise and the community, the release adds.

Sheets joined the Lee County Port Authority in April 1999 as a line service agent at Page Field and soon after became a line service supervisor. In February 2006 he was promoted to manager of general aviation and in 2011 to senior manager of general aviation, directing the general aviation operations and day-to-day business activities at Page Field, as well as managing the airfield and maintenance department, the release states. In February 2013, Sheets became the senior manager of maintenance and operations at Page Field.
