Florida's unemployment rate for July 2011 is 10.7%, level with the Agency for Workforce Innovation's revised rate for June.

The Gulf Coast's three major metro areas — Tampa Bay, Sarasota, and the region around Fort Myers and Naples — saw disparate results in the latest release of unemployment data, which are not seasonally adjusted: 10,800 jobs added in Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater; 800 jobs lost in North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota; and a combined 4,100 jobs lost between Cape Coral-Fort Myers and Naples-Marco Island.

The unemployment rate for each metro area is down considerably over the year, from a range between 12.4% and 13.1% down to rates between 11% and 11.9%. For regions where the number of jobs has decreased, a reduction in the labor force has lowered jobless rates.
