Interop Technologies, a privately held Fort Myers company that provides messaging services for cell phone operators, recently hired a telecom veteran to lead its product development.

Doug Thompson Jr., who joins Interop as director of product management, was formerly senior manager of product management and marketing at Huawei Technologies.

Huawei is a Chinese telecom company with 110,000 employees and $28 billion in annual revenues. The company has built wireless-phone networks for 45 of the world's top 50 telecom operators.

Prior to Huawei, Thompson was product line manager and service introduction leader at Nortel Networks. He will be based at Interop's Dallas office.
