Samira Beckwith might run a nonprofit, but she's one of the savviest business people on the Gulf Coast.

Beckwith, president and chief executive officer of Hope HealthCare Services, is a finalist in two categories of the coveted Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

The annual award honors women executives and entrepreneurs around the world. The winners will be announced at a gala in New York City on Nov. 13. The Stevie awards are named after the Greek word “crowned.”

Beckwith is one of eight finalists for the lifetime achievement award and one of six finalists for the nonprofit/government award. Through Hope Hospice and other related services, the nonprofit cares for 2,300 people living their final days in Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, and Lee counties.
