Tampa-based worldwide law firm Holland & Knight has no presence in Japan, yet it is offering to help the country still reeling from the aftermath of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
The firm observed a “relief day” at its 21 offices to raise money for the American Red Cross, which is partnering with the Japanese Red Cross. It has offered to match the first $100,000 of individual contributions by its 1,000 attorneys.
“Our donations will help fund those local volunteers who are distributing relief items, offering hot meals, clearing debris and providing medical transportation,” says Steven Sonberg, Holland & Knight managing partner.
Numerous other law firms across the country are also stepping up their efforts to raise money for Japan relief.
