NAPLES -- Health Management Associates Inc. may soon add another five hospitals to its asset portfolio.
The Naples firm has been selected for exclusive negotiations towards the formation of a joint venture with Integris Health, one of Oklahoma's largest health systems. The new venture would include the management of five Oklahoma hospitals, which have generated a combined $95 million in revenue over the last 12 months.
Today, through its subsidiaries, HMA operates 66 hospitals, with approximately 10,400 licensed beds, in non-urban communities located throughout the United States. Earlier this week, the company proposed a debt issuance of $3.7 billion, pushing its stock price down near $8.50. But the company is regaining that value in early Wednesday trading.
