Westfield Sarasota program

to honor community leaders

Westfield Sarasota has begun a program titled "Pillars of the Community" to recognize and honor people whose actions and efforts have had a positive impact on Sarasota.

A personal portrait of each person will be displayed on the pillars that surround the mall's center court. For its first series, Westfield Sarasota will honor Women of Community Impact. They are Marjorie Broughton, Patricia Courtois, Dottie Garner, Janet Hevey, Diane McFarlin, Jane Ritter, Karen Rushing, Margaret Sanders, Nancy Shoemaker, Betty Schoenbaum, Virginia Toulmin and Ruby Woodson.

Sarasota company uses

chemical free printing

Locally owned Spotlight Graphics is the first commercial printer in the U.S. to adopt a chemistry-free computer-to-plate (CtP) printing process. The process is more efficient and has less impact on the environment. The system was introduced in 2004 and is different from conventional thermal plate making.

for new executive director

Following the resignation of Executive Director Peter Kiziu, the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce is establishing a search committee to find candidates for its next office executive.

Teletronics Inc. selected as

customer contact for Waterford

Teltronics Inc., a Sarasota-based telecommunications firm, has been selected by Waterford/Wedgwood USA to fulfill its customer contact center needs. Waterford will use Teltronics OmniWorks suite of products for a complete VoIP-enhanced solutions.

Downtown Sarasota

goes wireless

A new regional technology group, 82 Degrees Tech, and Sarasota County government have launched an expanded system to provide wireless Internet access in downtown Sarasota.

The wireless system, dubbed "Downtown Unplugged," allows users with wireless-capable laptop computers to access the Internet at no charge throughout much of downtown from Washington Boulevard west to Bird Key. Previously, a small-scale pilot project with less advanced technology allowed wireless Internet access at Selby Five Points Park and the Selby Public Library.

Green Trends 2005, the second annual Florida Green Building Conference and Trade Show took place in Sarasota May 25-27.

Christopher, Smith, Leonard, Bristow & Stanell PA, with offices in Sarasota and Bradenton, has joined the BDO Alliance, a national association of independently owned local and regional accounting and consulting firms.
