TAMPA — Branch, a Minneapolis-based financial technology firm, has opened its first office outside Minnesota, in Tampa.

The company has moved into the Industrious co-workspace in Ybor City. The new office, which opened in early March, already has three employees and, a spokeswoman says, the plan is to hire 20 to 30 more in the next couple years.

Branch made the move as part of a national expansion plan, with Tampa giving it a presence in the Southeast.

Company vice president of revenue Andrew Johnson, who will run the office, says Tampa was the right location because of its “thriving business and technology community” along with being close to current and future customers.

He also cited the areas sales talent and opportunities. This is key as the Tampa office, the company says, will “focus on fostering and developing new sales talent.”

The recruiting and hiring process for the Tampa office has already begun as the company looks to fill positions in sales, engineering, marketing and customer service. The jobs will be in office and remote. Branch was founded in 2015 and offers businesses a way to make on-demand payments to employers and contractors. Its services include digital payouts of tips, wages, and off-cycle payments, earned wage access and fee-free banking.

The company announced March 9 that it had received $75 million in Series C funding and that its revenue grew more than 700% in 2021.
