FORT MYERS — Seagate Development Group is developing a 40-acre commercial project at Alico Road and Interstate 75 in Fort Myers, a combination of office, flex and industrial buildings.
One tenant has already signed up for a 35,000-square-foot building on one of the parcels, according to a statement. Other parts of the project include single-tenant office, flex and industrial buildings for lease and sale, the release adds.
“This innovative undertaking is what so many people have been waiting for, since Lee County approved major development of this area,” Seagate CEO and Partner Matt Price says in the statement. “This was a great opportunity for Seagate to acquire the ground to expand its design-build division. This division has already taken on high-profile projects, such as the headquarters for NeoGenomics and Scotlynn as well as the operations center for Conditioned Air — all just up the road. Our tenant- and broker-friendly approach simplifies a complicated process, demonstrating the competitive cost of owning or leasing your own building.”
Seagate will begin clearing and filling the site next month and commence utility construction at the end of June, the release states. Construction on the first building will begin in April, and all the building and infrastructure development will be completed by October. “Done right, we believe the design-build process provides an affordable, long-term solution to our customers in an increasingly competitive marketplace,” Price says in the release.
Closing on this transaction occurred in January. Shawn Stoneburner of Cushman and Wakefield – Commercial Property Southwest Florida represented the seller and Derek Bornhorst of Lee & Associates having represented the buyer.
Seagate is a full-service commercial development company specializing in a design-build process via new construction, custom renovations, interior design, and management and leasing services. It had $65.5 million in revenue in 2019.
