Danielle Mikesell, senior vice president of marketing and product management for PGT Innovations, was appointed to serve on the board of All Star Children’s Foundation.
The Sarasota-based foundation's mission is to create a safe place for children to heal from the trauma of child abuse.
According to a press release, during her term, Mikesell and the other six board members will support the foundation's creation of its Campus of Hope and Healing.
“We are so pleased that Danielle has joined our board and supports our important mission of transforming foster care through innovation, science and compassion,” says co-founder Graci McGillicuddy in a statement. “Her passion for children and her expertise in marketing will make for a powerful addition to our board.”
This year, the foundation started a capital campaign to raise funds for its Campus of Hope and Healing, the release states. The five-acre campus will include a 12,000-square-foot trauma-focused center for clinical services, treatments and therapy programs; six single-family licensed foster homes; a community clubhouse; learning lab; indoor and outdoor recreational area; playground; park and community garden. The campus is at 3308 17th St. It is expected to open in fall 2019.
At Venice-based window and door manufacturer PGT Innovations, Mikesell oversees the marketing, product management, engineering and code compliance departments. She is also a board member of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce.
“As a mother to a young daughter, I could not be more passionate about the amazing services this foundation will provide to foster children in our region,” says Mikesell in the statement. “Through a partnership with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, the organization will do what has never been done before. Not only will they keep siblings together and help to reverse effects from traumatic events, but they will also advocate at the federal and state levels to infuse research-based, trauma-informed care into foster care systems across the country to effect change.”
