SARASOTA — Jonathan Paul, a principal at a Gainesville government-consulting firm, has been named interim director of transportation for Sarasota County.

Paul starts his new position today, according to the Sarasota Observer, sister paper of the Business Review. Paul, like Sarasota County Administrator Randall Reid, previously worked for Alachua County.

Paul replaces Clarke Davis, who resigned from his position in December after he said a mathematical error would delay a Sarasota County Commission decision on road impact fees. Commissioners had directed staff in 2011 to update construction fees with new data to reflect the current economy.

Paul, a concurrency and impact fee manager for Alachua County, will be in his position for up to six months, the Observer reports, while the department searches for a permanent replacement. To read the full story, click here.
