Veteran office broker Barry Hanerfeld has joined CBRE Group Inc. as a senior vice president in the commercial real estate firm’s Tampa office.
Mike DiBlasi, CBRE’s managing director and market leader in Tampa since the start of March, says in a statement that Hanerfeld is “a perfect addition to our team” and that he brings a “wealth of experience” to the firm.
Hanerfeld joins CBRE from the Tampa office of rival Cushman & Wakefield, where he was a managing director.
Since 2008, Hanerfeld had leased in excess of four million square feet of space and worked on such enviable assignments as the 38-story Tampa City Center office tower; a 28-story office building at 200 Central Ave. in downtown St. Petersburg owned by Third Lake Capital; a three-building office and industrial portfolio containing more than 327,000 square feet in Pinellas County; and the Baypoint Commerce Center, a 15-building office park also in Pinellas County.
Hanerfeld began his commercial real estate career in 1986 in Washington, D.C., working for Long & Foster Commercial Real Estate Services Group, the commercial brokerage division of one of the region’s largest residential brokerage operations.
In 1990, he relocated to Tampa and became the director of leasing for The Wilson Co., managing a portfolio of more than three million square feet of space.
Hanerfeld becomes the third major defection from Cushman & Wakefield since DiBlasi joined CBRE in early March.
Late last month, the brokerage firm announced that KC Tenukas and Ryan Reynolds had joined CBRE as senior vice presidents, also to focus on office leasing out of the firm’s Tampa office.
There, Tenukas was a senior director and Reynolds was a vice president.
