Oct. 11-Nov. 29

Sessions run from 6-9 p.m., seminar, "How to Start and Manage Your Own Business." The Women's Resource Center of Sarasota County is accepting reservations for its eight-week seminar, "How to Start and Manage Your Own Business," and two other business seminars, all scheduled for October.

With sessions running from 6 to 9 p.m., the eight-week business-startup seminars will begin Oct. 11 and run through Nov. 29. Cost is $35.

The sessions will focus on learning the basics of starting a business, how to craft a business plan, marketing, accounting, insurance and other topics. Sarasota businessman Andy Fox will be the business trainer.

On Oct. 20, the Women's Resource Center will conduct an hour-long session, "Winning At Work: Take Control of Your Paper Flow!" Organizer Senja Antilla will teach techniques for handling bills, magazines, vital documents and reference files. The session is free and will run from noon to 1 p.m. at the center's library conference room. Pre-registration is recommended.

On Oct. 21, the Women's Resource Center will host an entrepreneur's networking session from 5 to 7 p.m. at the center. Fox will facilitate. Cost is $5.

The Women's Resource Center, with locations in Sarasota and Venice, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping women become emotionally and financially independent through education, support, networking and referral services.

Monday, Oct. 11

6:00 p.m., monthly dinner meeting, Suncoast Chapter, Paralegal Assoc. of Florida Inc. Speakers include judicial candidates Susan Chapman, Diana Moreland, Preston DeVilbiss and Phyllis Galen. For reservations, call Carollyn Kinneer at (941) 955-5100.

Thursday, Oct. 14
