Thursday, Oct. 21

11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., seminar, "Public Records and the Internet; Panacea or Pandora's Box." The Sarasota Tiger Bay Club presents various speakers on the issue, including John Patterson, attorney; Mike Connelly, finance and systems director of the Sarasota Herald Tribune and Michael Bennett, a Florida State senator. 5-6 p.m., public viewing, "The Art in Business Places." The Arts Council of Manatee County will have a public viewing and "Meet and Greet" of juried art at the ComCenter at Lakewood Ranch. Those attending will view art from all mediums and have the chance to purchase the pieces.

Wednesday, Oct. 20

11:15 a.m., luncheon, "Meet the Minds." The Argus Foundation presents George Soros at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Soros, one of the world's richest men, will discuss his journey. Soros will discuss graduating from the London School of Economics, international investing and the Bush Adminstration's economic policies. Space is limited and the cost is $35 per person. Thursday, Nov. 4

6 p.m., award dinner, Argus Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award. The board of The Argus Foundation announced the recipients to receive the third annual Lifetime Achievement Awards. This year's recipients are Russ Currin, posthumous, and Ted Morton. (941) 365-4886.
