Telecom giant AT&T plans to hire up to 40 people for retail store positions from Sarasota to Wesley Chapel, including managers, in its ongoing Florida expansion effort.

The jobs, for retail sales consultants, assistant managers and managers, are among more than 600 openings the company has across Florida, according to a release. AT&T, with more than 15,000 employees in the state, hired 3,000 people in Florida last year. Positions included wire technicians; retail; call center; IT/engineering; consumer sales; and corporate support.

“We continue to invest in our networks and Florida job growth to ensure our customers have a great experience, whether it's on their mobile device, in one of our stores or on the phone with an AT&T customer care representative,” AT&T Florida President Joe York says in the release.
