FORT MYERS — Alico Inc. (symbol: ALCO) earned $6 million in profits in the third quarter of its 2011 fiscal year, up 161% from the same time a year ago. Revenues were up 38%, to $39.3 million.

A strong showing from its citrus growing operations drove the growth. Quarterly revenues from citrus sales were $38.2 million, up from $26 million a year ago, the result of both a higher yield (up 23%) and higher prices for citrus.

Headquartered in Fort Myers, Alico owns approximately 139,607 acres of land in Southwest Florida.
