BONITA SPRINGS — Dr. Kool Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, serving customers in Southwest Florida, is running a gift card donation program for doctors, nurses and other health workers treating coronavirus paitents.

For every service call Dr. Kool makes in April, the company donates a Kool Kard restaurant gift card to a doctor, nurse or hospital employee, according to a statement. It had donated more than $2,000 in cards through the middle of the month, the release adds, to FK Your Diet Restaurant in Lee County and Joey D’s Italian Restaurant in Collier County.

“This is a real doctor-to-doctor effort because we want to show our appreciation for the people who risk their lives to care for others,” says Mark Maner, founder and president of Dr. Kool Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, in the statement. “A warm, hot freshly prepared meal means a lot to an exhausted nurse after a brutal shift in the hospital. And our local restaurants need our help too, so buying gift cards for their take-out operations will help them stay open during this difficult time.”

Maner opened Dr. Kool Air Conditioning & Refrigeration in Bonita Springs in 2013 and serves residential and commercial customers in Lee and Collier counties.
