If you haven't heard of Google Glass, now's the time to learn.

Google has been talking about its augmented reality glasses since April 2012.

Think about Google Glass as a smart phone that you wear on your face. According to the Google Glass website (http://www.google.com/glass/start/) you can call Google Hangout, tell the glasses to take photos or videos, send others photos or videos, chat and ask it questions (kind of like Siri on the iPhone.)

In September, Diane von Furstenberg's models wore the Google glasses on the runway during New York Fashion Week. They excited techies again after releasing a video showing the capabilities of Glass and what the world would look like through them.

Google Glass appeared in Austin, Texas, last week at SxSW, but according to CNET (http://news.cnet.com/8301-14013_3-57573987/google-glass-could-have-been-the-hit-of-sxsw-it-wasnt/) didn't make much of an impression as the up-and-coming device. In fact, Grumpy Cat was more popular despite Google Glass' capabilities.

They aren't available yet and won't be for another six months or so and have already drawn criticism for various reasons. One bar in Seattle (http://www.businessinsider.com/seattle-bar-bans-google-glass-2013-3) has banned them (partially as a joke) because the glasses can take video without anyone knowing. There's a privacy issue here. Not to mention, just like with smart phones, these glasses could come out with glitches. Who knows how that would affect a wearer? From a social point of view these could cause problems with people being rude or not interacting with others. I already have an issue with texting at the table, think of all the things you could do if you aren't forced to put your device down.

Google Glass could take workaholic to a whole new level.

What do you think? Are you excited about the technology or do you think this is too much?
