Water panel quenches board members

Sarasota insurance executive Mike Moran was one of five Gulf Coast businessmen reappointed to serve on the Southwest Florida Water Management District's Governing Board.

The board sets policy for the district, known as Swiftmud, which manages water and related resources of west central Florida. Board members are volunteers appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Florida Senate.

Moran is the owner of Blue Water Insurance Group. His term runs from through March 1, 2019. The four other board members Florida Gov. Rick Scott recently reappointed are:

• St. Petersburg attorney Jeffrey Adams, with Abbey, Adams, Byelick and Mueller LLP. His term runs through March 1, 2018.

• Dunedin attorney Elijah “Ed” Armstrong, with Hill Ward Henderson. His term runs through March 1, 2018.

• Randall “Randy” Maggard of Zephyrhills, the vice president of Sonny's Discount Appliances Inc. His term runs through March 1, 2019.

• Henry “Paul” Senft of Haines City, the president of Townsend-Senft Consulting and Insurance Inc. His term runs through March 1, 2019.
