TAMPA — A contract to build a new Veterans Affairs primary care clinic in Tampa has been awarded to Indianapolis-based Duke Realty, according to a release from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.

The new 106,000-square-foot facility will be located at Hidden River Corporate Park. Scheduled to be completed in 2014, the facility will feature a two-story building with 826 parking spaces.

In a release, the VA says the project will create 320 construction jobs, though it did not disclose the amount of the contract for its construction. Once the building is completed, the VA will rent space from the contractor.

The VA says the new clinic will provide primary care currently provided by the James A. Haley VA Medical Center. The new clinic, located four miles from the Haley medical center, will serve more than 87,000 veterans in Pasco, Polk, Hernando and Hillsborough counties.
