PLANS, DESCRIPTION: University of Tampa Inc. purchased an 8,000-square-foot academic building, a 7,000-square-foot building, recreational space and a parking lot for $1.42 million.

The property is part of a two-block area bordered by Kennedy and North boulevards purchased by the university and the Bailey Family and David Straz Jr. foundations in mid-2009. The university, which leases the entire property, has been buying individual portions of the property in phases.

The smaller 7,000-square-foot, two-story building is currently unoccupied and used for storage.

The university has no development plans for the property, according to Eric Cardenas, director of public information and publications for the university.
