Florida's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for May 2011 is 10.6%, the lowest it has been since August 2009, according to the Agency for Workforce Innovation. The jobless rate is down 0.7 percentage points from May 2010.
Employers in Florida have added 24,900 nonagricultural jobs in the past year, the agency estimates.
Most Gulf Coast counties saw their unemployment rates drop by a full percentage point over the past year. Charlotte, Lee, and Manatee counties each saw declines of 1.3 percentage points in their respective rates.
Collier County has the lowest unemployment rate in the region, at 9.9%. Pasco County has the highest rate, at 11.4%.
