Florida's unemployment rate for September is 11.9%, up one-tenth of a percentage point from the previous month, according to the Agency for Workforce Innovation.

As a region, Florida's Gulf Coast has lost roughly 4,684 net jobs over the past year, and total unemployment stands at 258,534. In contrast, current total statewide employment is 7,208,300, representing a net job gain of 27,200 since September 2009.
The Tampa Bay area has the largest impact on regional unemployment trends. Of the 4,684 jobs lost over the past 12 months, 3,710 of those losses occurred in Hillsborough, Pasco, or Pinellas counties.
