TAMPA — Former BB&T executive Jim Daly has been named Truist’s regional president for West Florida.

Truist Financial Corp. is the result of the merger between SunTrust and BB&T, a marriage that became official Dec. 6. Truist, with some 10 million consumer accounts, is now the sixth-largest bank in the United States, according to a press release.

Daly, a community banking group executive at BB&T, will be based in Tampa, where, the release states, he will be responsible for delivering the full complement of the company’s services to clients in the area. He’s one of 24 regional presidents Truist recently appointed throughout the country.

“Our ability to leverage our unique community banking model with its decentralized, regional structure combined with deep industry and banking expertise immediately sets Truist apart from our larger competitors and allows us to operate on a more personal level with individual and business clients, providing them with the kind of attention they expect from a hometown bank,” states David Weaver, a Truist commercial community bank executive, in the release.

“It also empowers our regional presidents with the authority, delivery and decision making they need to remain close to our clients along with highly visible and engaged leadership in our communities. Most importantly, it enables us to continue building long-term relationships of trust with our clients, based on fairness, transparency and respect.”
