TW Business Services, a division of TimeWarner Cable Inc. (symbol: TWC), will hire 500 workers in Hillsborough County to staff a new services center, according to a statement issued by the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corp.
The company considered 59 locations across the U.S. for its new center, but has pared its list down to three options: Tampa, Temple Terrace and unincorporated Hillsborough County.
In a joint statement, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, Temple Terrace Mayor Joe Affronti and Hillsborough County Commission Chairman Al Higginbotham say they “each agreed to pursue approval of local incentives even though one or more of us will be eliminated.” The statement did not estimate a final dollar amount for the incentives needed to attract TimeWarner's business.
Time Customer Service Inc., another subsidiary of TimeWarner, moved its headquarters to Tampa in 1986.
