SARASOTA — Wireless mobile broadband firm xG Technology won two new patents this month.
The patents, according to a statement, “add a novel approach to dealing with interference that allows wireless systems to maintain high levels of performance, even in difficult transmission environments.” The new technology, the firm adds, will have a “direct benefit in markets that require reliable, high-quality communications in unpredictable situations, such as public safety, emergency management and the military sector.”
The patents were awarded May 4 and May 14.
“With the announcement of this patent award, we have further extended our leadership in the field of interference-resistant, always-available wireless communications,” xG CEO and Chairman George Schmitt says in the release.
Sarasota-based xG also announced first quarter earnings yesterday. The firm lost $3.5 million in the first quarter, an improvement from the 2014 first quarter, when it lost $5.2 million. Revenues more than doubled, from $250,000 in the 2014 first quarter to $584,000 in the most recent quarter.
