SARASOTA — Prominent local technology entrepreneur Dan Miller is one of two new executives hired by MobileBits, a social media software and mobile marketing firm.

Miller was named chief revenue officer of the company, which has offices in Sarasota and Los Angeles. In 2002 Miller co-founded Startup Florida, a for-profit incubator for startup technology firms. He later founded and held executive roles with several local companies, including Movo Mobile, a mobile marketing firm. Miller also helped start the Abbeton Accelerator Fund, a portfolio of local technology firms.

The other new executive at MobileBits is Jim Burk, who was named chief financial officer, according to a press release. Burk previously held operating and financial positions with NBC Universal Studios. He's also been CFO of several other firms, including Youbet.com and Palace Entertainment Holdings Inc.

Mobile Bits is publicly traded (symbol: MBIT). The firm raised $7 million in capital last year, and currently seeks at least $10 million in another capital raise. In March it signed an agreement to buy a company that makes one of the most popular iPhone and smartphone apps in Switzerland.
