TAMPA — AAA Auto Club South, the nation's third largest affiliate of AAA, added 558,000 new members in 2010, representing the chapter's best year ever in terms of sales.
Interestingly, net members increased by just 35,000, according to the affiliate. But even that number is the organization's best since 2007.
In total, AAA Auto Club South ended the year with 4,164,000 members. Since its founding in 1938 with 97 members, the group has never experienced an over-the-year decline in membership.
With its headquarters in Tampa, AAA Auto Club South operates 79 branches throughout Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Puerto Rico. It employed 2,970 workers at the end of 2010, up 3% over the year.
