TAMPA — Tampa Bay & Company named Kelly Miller to lead the organization as president and CEO starting at the first of the year.

After conducting a search to replace Paul Catoe, its long-time president and CEO who is retiring Dec. 31, the board of Tampa Bay & Company chose Miller based in part on his “regional approach to destination marketing,” according to release from the organization.

Miller is currently the executive director of Asheville Convention & Visitors Bureau in North Carolina. In his more than 12-year tenure there, the area increased overnight leisure visits by 44%, from 2.3 million to 3.23 million visitors annually. In addition, hotel sales in the area grew 82% to $169 million under Miller's leadership.

Prior to that, Miller worked for six years at the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau. During that time, he served as its marketing manager for the 1995 Summer Olympic Games and then as the organization's first director of international marketing.

“He brings a forward-thinking approach that will help us continue to enhance Tampa Bay's status as a top-tier destination,” Ron Ciganek, chairman of Tampa Bay & Co.'s board and senior vice president of USAmeriBank says in a release.

Tampa Bay & Co. is a nonprofit membership organization created to create economic development through tourism. It is funded in part by Hillsborough County and its Tourist Development Council.
