TAMPA — Syniverse Technologies will provide a number of mobile services to China Unicom, a cellular network with 900 million subscribers. The Chinese operator is preparing to transition from third-generation, or “3G” service speeds, to 4G.

Two of Syniverse's most popular technologies among mobile operators — Visibility Services and VisProactive — will help China Unicom track the up-to-the-minute integrity of its mobile network, as well as identify which networks its customers use for roaming services.

Earlier in 2011, Syniverse initiated partnerships with two other Asian mobile networks: India's Aircel network, and Korea Telecom in Korea.

“We are deeply committed to the AP region and have a strong understanding of this dynamic mobile market,” says Windy Zou Kohl, the company's senior vice president for the Asia Pacific market, in a statement.
